Every responsible nation gathers up and promotes its values from fields such as science, education, and culture. Currently, there are 3,000 Romanian students in the UK, joined by an impressive number of researchers, professors, doctors, artists and architects. There are almost 600 Romanian doctors and nurses working in the British national healthcare system. Promoting the Romanian values is essential, it being a part of the European civilisation values. Solid education leads to the development of a nation.

About the Conference

The Conference is an initiative of the Romanian students and had as a main objective the creation of links between Romanian students, professors and researchers. Debating on various suggested themes of interests to all of them, as well as promoting the existing career opportunities in Romania, are also major points of discussion.

On 2 July 2010, took place the first meeting of the Steering Committee of the Conference for Romanian Students, Professors and Researchers, 3rd edition, to be hosted by the Embassy of Romania in London on 23 October 2010.

Members in the Steering Committee are: students, professors and researchers from universities as Canterbury Christ Church, Kent, Warwick, Richmond American University, representatives of the Romanian Cultural Institute –London, the Embassy of Romania in London hosted the meeting ROMANi ONLiNE and Roman in UK, as well as of the three patron-institutions of the event: the Embassy of Romania in London, the Raţiu Foundation and the British-Romanian Chamber of Commerce.

The members of the Steering Committee agreed that this year’s edition of the Conference will has as main theme Professional development, and that it will be structured in two parts: a plenary session and a panel session with the following topics: Postgraduate opportunities in the UK and funding; Students, professors and researchers exchanges between universities from the two countries, Internship opportunities at British companies; Success stories of young Romanians in the UK; Tourism and events management career opportunities in Romania.

The first two editions of the Conference took place on the 24th of October 2008 and, respectively, 24th of October 2009. The event is organised under the patronage of the Embassy of Romania in London, the Ratiu Foundation and the British-Romanian Chamber of Commerce, with the kind support of ROMANi ONLiNE.

Conferinţa Studenţilor, Profesorilor şi Cercetătorilor Români din Marea Britanie este o iniţiativă comuna a studenţilor români din Marea Britanie si Ambasadei Romaniei, ce are drept obiectiv crearea de legături între studenţii, cercetătorii şi profesorii români din Regatul Unit, precum şi dezbaterea unor teme de interes propuse de aceştia, inclusiv a oportunităţilor de carieră în România.

La 22 octombrie 2011, va avea loc cea de-a patra ediţie a acestei conferinţe. Evenimentul se va desfăşura sub patronajul Ambasadei României la Londra, Camerei de Comerţ Britanică Română şi Fundaţiei Raţiu, cu sprijinul companiei Smith&Felton şi în colaborare cu Institutul Cultural Român - Londra.

Primele trei ediţii ale Conferinţei au avut loc la 24 octombrie 2008, 24 octombrie 2009 şi 23 octombrie 2010.

Din Comitetul de organizare fac parte studenţi, cercetători şi profesori de la universităţile Canterbury Christ Church, Edinburgh, Kent, Manchester, Oxford, precum şi reprezentanti ai Ambasadei României la Londra şi Camerei de Comerţ Britanică Română.

Comitetul de organizare a hotărât ca ediţia de anul acesta a Conferinţei să aibă ca temă principală “Cum să contruieşti o carieră de succes” şi să fie structurată în două părţi: o sesiune plenară şi o sesiune de paneluri de dezbatere cu următoarele teme: Cum să reuşeşti: o abordare practică; Cum să ai o carieră de succes – studii de caz; Cum să obţii avantaje din relaţionare şi parteneriat.

Conferinţa se va încheia, ca în fiecare an, cu decernarea “Diplomei Ambasadorului”.
